Maciej Behnke holds a PhD in psychology and works at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy at Adam Mickiewicz University. His research explores how existing data and artificial intelligence can advance research methods in affective science. His previous work examined how positive psychological processes—including appraisals, emotions, and mindsets—can improve human performance, particularly in esports. He also founded the Affective Computing Group, established by the Cognitive Neuroscience Center and the Center for Artificial Intelligence. The group combines affective science, AI, and data analysis to better understand human emotions, develop more responsible technologies, and use modern technology to improve how emotions are studied. Winner of scholarships awarded by the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Foundation for Polish Science, the Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation, winner of the Malewski Award 2026, PRELUDIUM 13, ETIUDA 7, OPUS 20, SONATA 21 NCN calls, visiting scholar at Stanford University, University College London, and University of Chieti Pescara. Governing Board Member at the Cognitive Neuroscience Center. Currently also working with the EPiC Collaboration, Emognition Research Group, and Psychosensing Lab. Beyond academia, Maciej is a former athlete and dancer who enjoys traveling and discovering new culinary delights.
